CABLE-CAR URBANISM QUITO

Neeraj Bhatia of the Urban Works Agency will be participating in the The National Architecture Workshop, an annual event organized by la Carrera de Arquitectura de la Pontificia Universidad CatA?lica del Ecuador. On this occasion, the National Architecture Workshop has developed a partnership with SAP (South America Project), whose objectives are to study the relationship between infrastructure, landscape, the city and architecture in South America.

PROJECT: The Mena, Wholesale Market, La Algeria METROCABLE SOUTH PROJECT

The workshop will focus on a project proposed by the Municipality of the Metropolitan District of Quito, which has defined the future construction of three cable car lines as a public system of mobility in the city. The specific research project, called Line 2, cuts transversely across the city, joining two populous districts of the city, each located on opposite sides. The metrocable Quito project is currently under study. While a few months ago it was announced to the public, the final routes of the lines still unknown.

Our interest lies in exploring the impact on urban neighborhoods by building mobility infrastructure, and how this can be leveraged for both the residents as well as transport system.

In addition to the workshop, Bhatia will lecture about his work while in Quito.
